Cherubini seated, elbow resting on a console under a reddish fluted column. He holds his head in his right hand, and a cane in the other. He wears a black frock coat called a carrick, partially open at the top, revealing the end of a red vest and a white shirt. Behind him Terpsichore, muse of dance, dramatic choruses and lyric poetry with her attribute the lyre. She extends her right hand above her head. (Louvre)
