Long considered a masterpiece of Perugino, the painting would, in the opinion of several current specialists, have been executed in the master’s workshop by one of his collaborators, probably Andrea d’Assisi known as l’Ingegno. Late repeat in octagonal form at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington. (Louvre)
