Former palace of the Dukes of Brabant in the Middle Ages (and of the Dukes of Burgundy, from Philippe Le Bon in the 15th century) and residence of the governors of the Southern Netherlands in the 17th century. View taken from the northwest. In front of the palace, the famous animal garden with stags and hinds. On the left, the Charles V wing, in the center the old medieval core of the palace, then the chapel. On the far right, the Isabelle pavilion. The figures do not seem by Adriaen van de Velde as has sometimes been said. – Dating from the 1670s, Van der Heyden having often painted the site from the 1660s (at least 9 known examples, including those in Munich and Luton Hoo, from 1673).
