Jordaens was one of the most renowned and versatile Antwerp painters. Here he illustrates an episode from Homer’s Odyssey. Odysseus, naked and exhausted after being shipwrecked, frightens the princess Nausicaa and her entourage of maidens. Her father eventually helps him to return home to his own kingdom. (RIJKS)
