Tamaris, a neighborhood in La Seyne-sur-Mer on the French Riviera, was a site of refuge and relaxation for Renoir, who visited from Paris. In 1908, he built a family home outside Nice in Cagnes-sur-Mer, where he painted the sea and the surrounding landscape until his death in 1919. (MIA)
