Gachet sketched two portraits of Van Gogh on his deathbed. A sketch, dedicated to Theo van Gogh, is in the collection of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, inv. no. D753 V/1962. The other sketch is in the collection of the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, inv. no. RF 29928. A total of nine states of the print are known. There are also several proofs that Dr. Gachet and his son distributed them (See: A. de Margerie, p. 184). (RIJKS)
