Pieter Brueghel was the eldest son of the famous Flemish genre painter, Pieter Bruegel the Elder (about 1525–1569). The younger Brueghel painted landscapes, religious scenes, and fantasies, but is best known as a copyist of his father’s work (see his version of his father’s composition Winter Landscape with a Bird Trap in Gallery 23 upstairs).
