Interior of a cave; naked Oedipus standing in profile with one foot on the rock, elbow on knee, finger pointing towards the sphinx whose head can be seen in profile, front paw and feathers. Oedipus holds two spears in his right hand. A piece of fabric falls from his right shoulder onto his stomach and between his thighs; sole of a human foot in the bottom left corner; far away in the opening of the cave a naked man escapes.
